In hypnotherapy, the subject may be called to imagine a colour to represent a certain emotion.
For instance, think of the colour green (green used to represent calmness because it is close to nature’s colour). When you think of green or see green, you feel calm. This is a form of anchoring. When the person has anchored in his mind green equals calm, it takes shape.
In day to day life, if the person experiences anxiety, all he needs to do is to think of green or look at green and his emotion will be transported to a place of calmness. Likewise, the anxious feeling can be replaced by superimposing the green colour on that anxiety image to at least attain a neutral feeling.
