Metaphor For Unconscious Mind

Imagine that you are residing on earth and due to technology advancement, you now have the freedom to travel outside earth. You can visit a planet that is vast, in fact, much bigger than what earth’s size is.  And your travelling time is almost instantaneous. It literally took you seconds to go from earth to this vast land planet and vice versa.

In this vast land planet, there are many things which are much bigger, faster and better than on earth:

  1. It is many times bigger in its size horizontally and vertically.
  2. You can plant a seed there and its effect to produce the desired results you want is much shorter than earth.
  3. There are no rules and laws to restrict what you can put into it or take out of it.
  4. You are free to do anything that you want.
  5. You become much happier because of almost instant results you can get.
  6. You travel in and out freely.

I am using planets as a metaphor for our mind – the conscious and unconscious.  The earth is what the conscious mind is and the vast land planet is what the unconscious mind is. Let me put in bold words the similarity of this vast land planet to that of our unconscious mind.

It is many times bigger in its size horizontally and vertically.

Our unconscious mind is much bigger than that of conscious mind. And the potential it has is undoubtedly greater.

You can plant a seed there and its effect to produce the desired results you want is much shorter than earth.

If you were to use your conscious mind (or willpower) to achieve something, it may take you a long time. In addition, it could be hard work. Especially what you want to achieve is some bad ingrained habits that are stubborn and highly resistant to change.

There are no rules and laws to restrict what you can put into it or take out of it.

In contrast, the unconscious mind can produce the change much faster than you can imagine, all because there are no restrictions imposed by the conscious mind (no judgement, no argument, no analysis etc). As you may know now that these are like roadblocks that block empowering words and suggestions that help to speed up changes.

You are free to do anything that you want.

As there are no judgement and restrictions in our unconscious mind (it simply accepts what is given to it), you are free to think and say and imagine what you want. Of course, there are consequences for the thoughts, imagery and words that you put into it. To put it simply, you get what you sow. It is your choice.

You become much happier because of almost instant results you can get.

If you knew of a way to get results fast, wouldn’t you prefer to try the method?

You travel in and out freely.

We move in and out of our consciousness moment by moment.

The reason that I mention the unconscious mind and use a metaphor for it is because hypnosis is the result of the working of our unconscious mind.
